Justin Akers teaches courses in Agricultural Business and leads the Ag Business Club on the Ƶ Lamoni Campus. Before returning to Ƶ in the Fall of 2025, he served as a Regional Director for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Southwest Iowa from 2020-2025.
From 2010-2016, Akers served Ƶ as the Director of the Sandage Center for the Study of Free Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, led the Enactus team, taught Ag Business classes, and co-advised the Agricultural Business Club. He returned from 2018-2020 as an Assistant Professor of Business Administration, teaching courses in Accounting, Agricultural Business, Marketing, and Sales.
Akers brings a wide variety of experience to his present role at Ƶ. He has been an entrepreneur, worked in the real estate, property management and insurance fields, and served as a one-on-one business consultant as the Regional Director for the Mid-Iowa Small Business Development Center. A life-long farmer at heart, Justin, along with his wife Kristen and their three teenagers, raise crops and livestock on their family farm in nearby Ringgold County.
